YSP Code of Conduct
YSP Code of Conduct
At Yorkshire Sculpture Park, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring environment for everyone. As a registered charity, our mission is to make art accessible to all and to ensure that every visitor, staff member, volunteer, and artist feels respected, valued, and safe.
Art has the power to connect people, celebrate difference, and encourage understanding. We ask everyone who spends time with us to help uphold these values, to help protect the beautiful landscape, sculptures and exhibitions.
We are dedicated to removing barriers to engagement with art and the landscape. We strive to provide an environment where:
- Everyone feels welcome and able to participate
- Different perspectives are respected and valued
- People can engage with art in ways that are meaningful to them
We encourage visitors to approach artworks, spaces, and each other with openness and curiosity.
Respect for the Park, Artworks and Community
Help us keep YSP beautiful and protect our precious works of art by following the YSP Code.
Respect, Inclusion and Diversity
We celebrate diversity in all its forms and are committed to equity and inclusion across our spaces and programmes. We have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour of any kind.
We ask all visitors to treat everyone at Yorkshire Sculpture Park including staff, volunteers, and representatives with kindness and respect always. Abusive, aggressive, or threatening behaviour whether in person, by telephone, or in writing will not be tolerated.
This includes (but is not limited to):
- Threats, intimidation, or verbal abuse
- Unwanted physical contact
- Discriminatory language or behaviour relating to age, disability, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic
- Behaviour that makes others feel unsafe, unwelcome, or excluded
We expect everyone to treat others with kindness, dignity, and respect.
If behaviour falls short of these expectations, individuals will be asked to stop, leave the site, or, where necessary, further action may be taken.
Online Community Guidelines
We want our online spaces to reflect the same inclusive and welcoming environment as our park. We encourage thoughtful discussion, creativity, and the sharing of ideas.
While we welcome debate, we will not tolerate:
- Hateful, abusive, or discriminatory comments
- Offensive or threatening language or imagery
- Repeated or spam content
- Commercial promotion or advertising
- Sharing of personal or sensitive information
Comments or content that violate these guidelines will be removed, and repeated breaches may result in users being blocked or reported.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behaviour that concerns you, please speak to a member of staff or contact us directly on info@ysp.org.uk. We take all concerns seriously and will respond appropriately.

A Shared Responsibility
Together, we can ensure that Yorkshire Sculpture Park remains a place where art, nature, and people come together in a spirit of openness, respect, and inclusion.
