We’ve compiled the answers from our most frequently asked questions to share everything you need to know in planning and booking your visit to YSP.

Booking

What is included in the ticket price?

A ticket includes access to the open-air galleries, indoor galleries and YSP grounds. Parking is FREE. There are over 500 acres to explore and you can arrive at any time during our opening hours, and stay for the full day.

Who do I contact if I'm having trouble booking tickets?

You should receive a confirmation email shortly after purchase. Check your Junk/Spam email folder if you can’t see the confirmation in your inbox.

Does everyone have to book a ticket in advance?

Booking is advised to guarantee entry. A limited number of tickets are available each day and weekends, bank holidays and school holidays are very popular times to visit.

Visitors aged 18 and under visit for FREE but do require a ticket. This enables us to manage the overall number of people visiting on anyone day.

If you are a YSP Friend, we recommend that you book your ticket advance to guarantee entry on the day that you would like to visit.

How do I book an Essential Companion or Max Card holder ticket?

Tickets can be booked in advance online. Head to our book tickets page and select an Essential Companion or MAX Card Holder ticket from the list and proceed to check out.

Free entry for Essential Companions and Max Card Holders. Valid Max Card to be presented on arrival to YSP.

How do I book tickets if I don’t have access to a computer or online device?

Please phone our Information Desk on  01924 832631 (daily, 10.00–17.00) and our team will be very happy to help you.

I don’t have a smartphone or printer – how do I show you my ticket?

Please bring your booking confirmation number with you and show this to our admissions team on arrival. For further information, please get in touch via galleryteam@ysp.org.uk  or 01924 832631.

I plan to arrive by bike or on foot, do I still have to book?

We support green methods of transport, but you will still need to book in advance unless you are only visiting The Weston.

Do I need to book a ticket for my child?

Yes. Under 18s visit for FREE but still require a ticket, to help us manage numbers.

Can I have a refund? Or swap my booking to another day?

YSP admission tickets are non-refundable non-transferable.

Access and YSP facilities

Do you have a lift to access the Visitor Centre?

Yes. There is lift access within the Visitor Centre between the two floors of the building, and a lift down to our Underground Gallery and Formal Gardens where a number of sculptures are displayed.

I am a wheelchair user – is there an accessible toilet?

Yes – accessible toilets for independent use are available in the YSP Centre.

A Changing Places toilet located in our Learning Centre is accessible for wheelchair user and carer with access by radar key. Please ask the team at the YSP Learning Café if you require access to the Changing Places toilet during you visit.

Can I hire a mobility scooter?  

Yes. Please call  01924 832631 or email  galleryteam@ysp.org.uk  to reserve a scooter before you book your ticket to ensure that we have one available on the day you would like to visit.

Do you have baby changing and breast-feeding facilities available?

Yes – baby changing facilities are available in the toilets in the Visitor Centre, Bothy Building and Learning Centre. Our quiet and relaxing Quiet Space in the YSP Centre is open daily 10.00–17.00.

Is the shuttle bus running between the YSP Centre, The Weston and Longside Gallery?

No. The free shuttle bus service isn't in service at moment. Parking is available at the YSP Centre and The Weston. Longside Gallery is currently closed to visitors.

 Can I use the public rights of way to walk through YSP?

You are free to walk along the public bridleway between West Bretton and High Hoyland. Exiting this path and entering YSP Grounds will require an admissions ticket.

Ticket checks take place across the Parkland, including at Cascade Bridge where the bridleway passes through YSP.

Is James Turrell's Deer Shelter Skyspace and Roger Hiorn’s Seizure open?

Deer Shelter Skyspace

Deer Shelter Skyspace is open daily (10.00–16.00 during winter opening hours and 10.00–17.00 during summer opening hours) and is located in the Country Park area of YSP.

Seizure

In order to conserve the artwork and extend it's lifespan, access to Seizure is by pre-booked time slot only. Capacity is limited and we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment. Book tickets to visit Seizure. This booking includes your admission to YSP and there is no additional charge to visit Seizure.

Please note that these opening hours may be reduced in cases of extreme weather, which affect the work. We will contact all bookers in the event of unexpected closures.

How long can I stay for?

You can stay until the grounds close, regardless of the time you arrive. Please keep a copy of your ticket on you during your visit, either on a phone or printed out. We will be checking tickets across the grounds. View our seasonal opening hours.

Can I go in the Camellia House?

There is no access into the Camellia House at this time.


Parking

Does my entry ticket include parking at YSP?

Yes, parking is FREE.

I’m a YSP Friend and I’ve paid for an Annual Ticket Pass, do I still need to book a ticket?

Yes.

If you have an Individual Membership or Senior/Student Membership with Annual Ticket Pass, both you and one accompanying guest will be able to access free admission tickets to YSP.

If you have a Joint Membership with Annual Ticket Pass, both named members will be able to access free admission tickets to YSP for themselves plus one accompanying guest each.

Are Blue Badge parking spaces available?

Priority parking for Blue Badge holders is available in the Visitor Centre car park and at The Weston – please park in your preferred space on arrival.

Dogs, picnics, lost and found

Can I walk my dog at YSP?

If you have a valid YSP admissions ticket or pass, you can walk your dog, on a lead, around the grounds of the park. To protect livestock and wildlife, dogs are not permitted around Upper Lake or Menagerie Wood.

Dogs are welcome in the Visitor Centre concourse and shop, and Learning café. Dogs are not permitted inside the gallery spaces (Assistance Dogs are permitted). Find out more about visiting with your dog.

Where can I have my picnic?

Picnics are permitted anywhere suitable within the grounds but are not encouraged near sculptures. We also have designated picnic areas with benches which are highlighted on our map.

Please do not bring your own gazebos, tents or picnic tables and chairs. Thank you

I may have lost something at YSP, who should I contact?

Our Information Desk team handles lost property. Please call on 01924 832631 or email galleryteam@ysp.org.uk and they’ll help to reunite you with your items if they have been found and handed in. (Information Desk open daily 10:00 – 17:00)
