Exclusively for YSP Patrons and Friends, take a behind the scenes tour of the The National Arts Education Archive (NAEA) and learn about this amazing resource, and the valuable archives curated and catalogued by our dedicated team.
Located in the heart of YSP’S landscape, the NAEA, was established in 1985. Managed by YSP, the NAEA holds a fascinating collection of artefacts, books, artworks, papers and correspondence that documents developments in art education over the last century. The archive comprises more than 100 catalogued collections of work by children and young people, alongside inspirational educators.
You will have the opportunity to meet Archive Coordinator, Sophie Yaniw and our NAEA volunteers who will introduce you to the archives, where you'll tour our resources and be part of a handling session featuring some of our favourite and most interesting artefacts. We will end our session with tour of the Learning Through Drawing exhibition based at YSP Learning.

Niki de Saint Phalle: Buddha
Niki de Saint Phalle began creating figurative works in the mid-1960s. In response to the pressures of domestic life as daughter, mother and wife, she created her iconic Nana figures. The colourful and voluptuous sculptural works are celebrations of the female form. These goddess-like figures continued as a form of expression throughout the artist’s life, and paralleled modern feminist efforts to reconsider and revalue the female body. - Event
