About Lino Cutting Workshop with Printmaker Sarah Kirby
To coincide with her exhibition, A Printmaker’s Landscape, we are hosting a special one day workshop where participants can learn from, and work alongside linoprint artist, Sarah Kirby. Under the expert tuition of Sarah, you will be guided through the techniques and processes Sarah uses in her own practice and come away with the skills required to continue this method at home.
This one day workshop will be an introduction to creating and using textures and overlays to form composition using wooden spoons and Japanese bamboo barens to take impressions from the lino block, transferring your first image onto a second to produce a second layer of colour and marks. You will learn a range of cutting techniques and Sarah will demonstrate how to use mark making to create a vocabulary of texture , talking through her process of multi-layer block making and colour mixing.
In the calm setting of the Hayloft Studio, the small group size will ensure one-to-one time with the artist.
Tea, coffee and a cold buffet lunch is included in the price.
