Andrew Waddington: Betwixt and Between – The Poetry of Landscape
– Upper Space, YSP CentreAbout Andrew Waddington: Betwixt and Between – The Poetry of Landscape
Bringing the Cornish coast to Yorkshire painter and printmaker Andrew Waddington’s new works in the Visitor Centre incorporated elements of architecture, mythology, poetry, art and music.
Using a delicate colour palette, the exhibition featured a variety of mediums, including paintings, prints, and original drawings, depicting both the Cornish, and for the first time, Yorkshire landscapes.
When looking at his paintings the viewer does not know at what period in time the various elements are present; animals and objects float and fade in and out, and perspective is not necessarily followed.
The exhibition was the perfect springboard to get out in nature and explore the fabulous vistas, flora and fauna here at YSP.
Fans of Waddington’s work could purchase a unique artwork from the exhibition, with the proceeds shared between the artist and YSP. We are a registered charity and accredited museum, all proceeds from sales help us to share incredible art and continue to create meaningful, enjoyable experiences for everyone in a unique environment.

Willem Boshoff: Flagstone
Willem Boshoff’s Flagstone is a sculpture and a seat, positioned here overlooking Upper Lake to provide a space for rest and contemplation. In summer 2018, Boshoff spent a month at YSP, researching and meticulously recording the flora and fauna. Each day he walked the paths around the Park and became particularly fond of the areas around the Lakes. The residency was followed by an exhibition in Upper Space and the subsequent gift of Flagstone as a permanent work for YSP’s landscape. - Profile
