About In Conversation: Claye Bowler and Emii Alrai
Join us for an In Conversation event with artists Claye Bowler and Emii Alrai, as part of the expanded programme for Claye Bowler: Dig Me a Grave.
Taking place on the final weekend of the exhibition, this special event offers a chance to hear the artists reflect on their practices and shared themes.
Claye and Emii are two really exciting artists at similar points of their careers. Both artists use sculpture and installation to navigate personal and collective histories, exploring themes of identity, landscape and transformation.
This will be a unique opportunity to join a conversation between two important artists whose distinct voices are shaping the landscape of contemporary British sculpture.

Serge Spitzer: Untitled
The sculpture creates, encloses and protects its own interior, which can be glimpsed through the spaces held open by rubber pads. Spitzer chose to reflect upon the character and history of the location for his sculpture and to encourage active looking and questioning. It is not immediately clear if the beam emerges from, or supports, the quarry face. When seen from different angles, the sculpture creates different senses of stability and balance, of open and closed spaces. - Profile
