About Angela Harding and Simon Armitage: In Conversation
Join artist, illustrator, and print maker Angela Harding and Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage for a special in-conversation where these two creatives come together to discuss the relationship between image and the spoken word and their connections to YSP.
Previously collaborating on the publication Blossomise, with Harding as illustrator to Armitage’s words, for Angela’s exhibition - A Chronicle of Birds and Beasts - at YSP Centre, Simon has written words for Angela’s illustrations, in a reversal of the more usual writer/illustrator practice.
There will be a book signing directly following the in-conversation where both Angela and Simon will be signing copies of their books. Merchandise developed for the exhibition will also be for sale at YSP Shop which Angela will be happy to sign.
This event will take place in the Visitor Centre auditorium.

William Turnbull: Large Idol
Large Idol forms part of a series of ‘Idol’ sculptures which William Turnbull made over the course of several years. These minimal works take the human form as a starting point which is then simplified and refined, whilst maintaining a sense of figuration. The titles of these streamlined forms make reference to them perhaps being thought of as ancient gods and being worshipped for their power and beauty. - Art Outdoors

Jørgen Haugen Sørensen: Supplement til Titlens Afskaffelse
Supplement til Titlens Afskaffelse (Supplement to the Title’s Abolition) embodies Haugen Sørensen’s respect for and relationship with granite. After YSP organised his first solo exhibition in the UK in 1993, the artist developed a great interest in siting sculpture in the open air, enjoying the tough, uncompromising nature of granite, which is one of our hardest and most unyielding stones.
