About Yorkshire Artspace: Maker Showcase
YSP and Yorkshire Artspace collaborated to showcase work by 17 exceptional makers in YSP Centre, spanning contemporary ceramics, silversmithing, jewellery and leather work. Each maker taking part, including Janet Barnes, Chris Boland, Jennie Gill, Francisca Onumah, Helena Russell, and Hanne Westegaard is renowned for their individual specialism, working with galleries and outlets across the UK and internationally. All work was for sale.
Yorkshire Artspace is one of the largest creative communities in the UK, providing studio space for around 170 practising artists and makers across two sites in Sheffield City Centre. With a shared passion for the production and promotion of contemporary craft and highlighting the wealth of skill and craftsmanship available within our region, this showcase is an exciting opportunity to support this community of skilled makers.

Idit Nathan and Helen Stratford: Further Afield
Further Afield is a series of sculptures sited around the Upper Lake for visitors to encounter and respond to. Each work is made from wooden railway sleepers, with words engraved on the surface. Certain words have been highlighted by the artists using brightly coloured paint. Over time, the wood will age and become embedded in the landscape of the Park. - Art Outdoors
Joao Vasco Paiva: Standard Kitchen
For Standard Kitchen, Vasco Paiva collaborated with artisans in East Bali. Together, they used the traditional method of carving Batu Candi, a lava stone often used for building temples and shrines. The stone was shaped to create a life-sized replica of a modular kitchen to consider the processes and spaces that are integral to everyday life. - Art Outdoors
Jaume Plensa: Wonderland
Wonderland is a cast iron doorway on the external wall at the end of our visitor centre. It subtly plays with our expectations as it doesn’t open to allow us to pass through. Although it announces itself quietly, this sculpture speaks of our past, present and potential futures. - Art Outdoors

Gazing Ball was originally commissioned for The National Trust’s Folly! programme, in which artists create responses to re-imagine lost follies at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, North Yorkshire.
