Jim Ever is the recipient of the 2025 Yorkshire Graduate Award, a unique residency opportunity for a recent graduate from a Yorkshire-based university. 

Ever spent two weeks in residence at YSP in January 2026, taking inspiration from the Park’s natural landscape and historic trees to develop new work that reimagines our relationship with nature. His experiments with image-making, projection and sound produced an audio-visual installation which was displayed at the YSP Boathouse over the 2026 August Bank Holiday weekend. Exploring the changing relationship between the natural and human worlds, it revealed how a place can hold traces of its inhabitants over time.⁠

At the heart of Interval was a sound work created from recordings of the vibrations and electrical signals from YSP’s hidden indoor and outdoor spaces. The equipment Ever used captures sounds that we wouldn’t usually hear and offered a unique way to experience this unseen activity at the Park. ⁠

Ever studied Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. He works across sculpture, photography, sound, moving image and installation, with each project evolving in response to the place in which it is created and shown. Inspired by both industrial and natural landscapes, he combines analogue and digital technologies to create new dialogues between traditional and experimental methods.
