About Teacher CPD: Textiles in the Landscape

This hands-on interactive session will explore the use of textiles in 3D contemporary art-making. Teachers will create and display their own textile sculptures in the grounds of YSP using experimental methods and a resourceful approach. We will consider how site-specificity and chance encounters can influence and impact the meaning of an artwork.

Teachers will explore performative and interventional practices that use textiles, such as the large-scale outdoor installations of the session’s artist-facilitator, Puy Soden.

All ideas will be translatable to a school setting, and we will consider how site specific works can be documented and displayed back in the classroom.

This workshop will provide ideas to take back to school but is also an opportunity for teachers to reconnect with their own artistic practices and creativity.

The session will be based in the Hayloft at YSP Learning and outdoors in the landscape. Tea and coffee will be provided in a break halfway through the session and teachers are invited to extend their visit and enjoy the exhibitions at YSP afterwards.

Attendees will receive an email before the session with further details and directions.
