Vincent James
Vincent James uses objects appropriated from cartoons to make sculpture, collage and animation. In his work props dislocated from different cartoon worlds collide, creating surreal and whimsical interactions.
Since completing an MA at Goldsmiths, Vincent has shown nationally and internationally including exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles and Athens. Among his exhibitions are Sew What?, a solo show at Studio 2, Todmorden, a residency for Art Fair Suomi, Helsinki and Assembly a Yorkshire Sculptors Group show at Wakefield Cathedral. His work has been selected for Leeds and Braziers International Film Festivals and in 2023 he was commissioned to make an animated installation for SPECTRA, Scotland's festival of light, in Aberdeen.

Sean Scully: Wall Dale Cubed
Made for YSP, Wall Dale Cubed uses 1000 tonnes of Yorkshire stone from a local quarry and was constructed over many weeks. Importantly to the artist, this colossal work is built in the same way throughout, which connects to ancient stone walls in Ireland, so that ‘when looking at the outside of the block, one can feel the inside without being able to see it’. - Art Outdoors

Roger Hiorns: Seizure
In 2008 Roger Hiorns transformed an empty council flat in Southwark, London into Seizure, a sparkling blue world of copper sulphate crystals. The work was created using 75,000 litres of liquid copper sulphate, which was pumped into the former dwelling to create a strangely beautiful and somewhat menacing crystalline growth on the walls, floor, ceiling and even the bath of the abandoned flat.
