Sally Gilford
Sally Gilford is a socially engaged artist, designer, and creative producer, whose participatory approach encourages the exploration of multidisciplinary art forms to encourage self-expression and creative experimentation.
Working with people and communities, Sally connects ideas and creativity to place, heritage, and science. Exploring the intersection of STEM thinking in digital and analogue realms, she is interested in seeking out both visible and hidden patterns within found and supplied data. From architectural artefacts, bio images to historical archives beyond, Sally tells stories that nod to the past, present and future, subverting the ideals into dynamic provocations.
With a background in surface design and print, her work is bold, playful, and inquisitive. Sally has been commissioned across a diverse range of settings including internationally recognised galleries, museums and educational and cultural organisations. Currently based in Islington Mill, Salford, UK, where she founded Salford Makers CIC in 2017 and co-founded print specialists One69A in 2009.

Henry Moore: Reclining Figure: Arch Leg
Moore’s recumbent figures reflect many different stages of abstraction, with Reclining Figure Arch Leg being highly abstract and comprising two highly simplified forms to suggest a body. Moore often thought of the human figure in terms of landscape, and the reclining position reflects the horizontal bands of earth, sea and sky. The torso and arched leg of this work could be seen as resembling a sea stack and arch as found around the coast of this country. - Art Outdoors
