Robert Indiana first used the word 'love' in a painting which used the slanted ‘O’ within a square format. Indiana said that this was “the most dynamic way to use four letters”. The sculpture of LOVE was first made in 1966, using aluminium, with variations on display all over the world.

South African artist Willem Boshoff spent a summer around the lakes at YSP. He created Flagstone to sit by the lake as both sculpture and seat, using stone that mimics the ripples on water. The artwork bears a Latin phrase about the passage of time by the poet Ovid. It translates as: 'a drop of water hollows a stone, not by force, but by continuously dripping.'

A ha-ha is a sunken fence that creates a boundary while giving the illusion of an unbroken, rolling landscape. They were common on 18th-century estates like Bretton, now home to YSP. Written on the side of this elegant bridge, the word refers to the ha-ha beneath and to the origins of the term as an expression of surprise. It also evokes the joy of being in nature.

Further Afield is a trail of sculptures, each engraved with an invitation to play. It encourages us to think, interact, and use our senses to experience our surroundings in new ways. The artists created the trail following their series of 'walkshops'. Together with visitors, they talked about memories of playing, adapted existing games and invented new ones.

In motorway blue and tourist brown, road signs reading 'Arcadia' dot YSP. Popular in literature and art, Arcadia is an imagined utopia that has become a by-word for unspoiled perfection. These playful artworks comment on YSP's beautiful landscape and allude to the fact that much of it was created by the estate's former owners, almost like an artwork itself.

Katrina Palmer's installation symbolises the freedoms afforded to many women in the First World War. It's inspired by the all-female First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY), who rescued wounded men on the battlefields. Painted on the artwork is a response to diaries written by these nurses.
