About Summer of Love Celebration Day
Celebrate the Summer of Love with your loved ones at our mini festival-in-a-day.
Focusing on community and wellbeing, find free drop-in activities throughout the day on the Bothy Lawn. Some activities are timed, others will run from 11.00–16.00, please see below for details.
Family Yoga (10.30–11.30 and 13.30–14.30)
Perfect for beginners, take part in yoga sessions for families to do together. Start with mediation, explore movement, making shapes and testing out your balance and strength with an opportunity to create your own yoga poses. Each session will conclude with guided breathing and relaxation.
Sound Bath (12.00–13.00 and 15.00–16.00)
Take part in a sound bath session to experience a deeply relaxing or meditative state by listening to a gong being played. When played, the gong generates rich and complex sounds as well as physical vibrations. Lie comfortably on a mat or sit in a chair and listen to and feel the sound.
Please note: gong baths are not recommended for women in their first trimester of pregnancy, those with a pacemaker or anyone with epilepsy. While gong baths are suitable for most ages, participants must be able to lie quietly for the duration of the session - to benefit from the gong bath and to avoid disturbing others.
We Love Trees Workshop (11.00–16.00)
Join artist Jo Blaker for a guided drawing and nature walk celebrating all things trees. Draw together, look closely and spend some time with the natural giants of the park.
LGBTQIA+ Haircuts(11.00–16.00)
Needing a quick trim? Sammy Trims will be in the Bothy Gallery offering free haircuts for LGBTQIA+ visitors. Make sure you explore the On Queer Ground exhibition while you wait.
Angelic Reiki (11.00–16.00)
Try a taster session of Angelic Reiki, a complete system of energy healing that can help you to release tension, relax deeply, and restore balance with your true self. It is a positive and nurturing experience that supports you to find a sense of inner peace in a busy messy world. Suitable for ages 16+
Hand Massage (11.00–16.00)
Give you hands some TLC and let our hand masseur nourish your hands and soul. Suitable for families.
Positive Identities Pop Up (11.00–16.00)
Over the summer, Barnardo's Positive Identities youth group has been developing ideas and skills at YSP. For our special day, they have designed inventive activities for YSP visitors of all ages, so come by and get creative.
