About Light Organ Late x Keisha Thompson
Join us for the last Light Organ Late of our winter season. For this final performance, Light Organ will be activated by YSP’s poet in residence Keisha Thompson for a powerful evening of sound, song, music and poetry.
Keisha has been poet in residence since spring 2023, when she was awarded the YSP / Laureate Fund Residency. This residency is a year long commitment of collaboration and support between YSP a poet who will consider and make work that is inspired by and in response to our programme and our landscape. Throughout her residency, Keisha has focused on themes of identity and nature-connectedness, thinking specifically about the resonances between natural hair and the YSP landscape. In September 2023 Keisha celebrated World Afro Day with a weekend of events at YSP, and in March 2024 she will conclude her residency with a final performance. This collaboration with Light Organ marks a perfect interim point in her residency, a moment to pause and reflect on her time at YSP so far and an opportunity to experience Keisha’s work in a unique and special context.
For the last Light Organ Late of the season, Keisha will join producer and sound designer Aron Kyne, and musician and vocalist Thabo Mkwananzi to activate Light Organ in one final evening performance.
Join us at the Visitor Centre, where our Coffee Shop will be open for warm drinks and snacks by the bonfires, before we walk down to the Chapel by torchlight.
