About Light Organ Late x Light Up Wakefield
Join us for an exciting weekend to celebrate the opening of Light Organ and the Light Up Wakefield weekend with this musical evening event.
Light Organ is the invention of artists Akeelah Bertram, Adam Glatherine and creative technologist Simon Fletcher. The audio-reactive artwork brings sound to life in an array of electrifying colour.
This weekend launches a series of evening events at YSP, offering a rare chance to visit the park after-hours and spend an evening illuminated by the Light Organ. Join us at the Visitor Centre, where our Coffee Shop will be open for warm drinks and snacks by the bonfires, before we walk down to the Chapel by torchlight. Light Organ Lates will accompany the Light Organ exhibition, providing a very special opportunity each month to see work activated by artists, poets and musicians to create electrifying performances.
At the helm of the Light Organ Lates programme is producer, musician and sound designer, Aron Kyne. Aron is a long-time collaborator with Light Organ and over the years he has introduced the artwork to an array of singers and musicians, producing mesmerising performances. For this very special opening weekend, Aron will be accompanied by Zola Marcelle, a vocalist who’s sound and style combines bold, creative, gentle soul, and a warrior's mind. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in England, Zola's development as a musician has been steadily rising; from genetic disposition to church beginnings, stadiums, tours and session singing now to her own magnetic, raw musical field. Her art has been acknowledged and played by Worldwide FM, BBC Radio 6 Music and other European stations. She has fearlessly been creating music that pushes the boundaries of what we know.
