The two Flower works are pieces by Masayuki Koorida – the Director of the Shanghai Sculpture Park, where he continues to develop his own practice and create new work.
Koorida created highly polished sculptures in granite, whose incredibly smooth and with perfect curves remind the viewer of amoebas, molecules and the aesthetic of Japanese anime. The highly attractive sculptures draw in the viewer and offer great potential as places for rest, meeting and conversation.
The two Flower works were shown at Blickachsen 7, an annual outdoor exhibition of contemporary sculpture in Bad Homburg, Germany. They are on loan to YSP courtesy of Masayuki Koorida and Galerie Scheffel, Bad Homburg, Germany.
