Bruce Beasley: Advocate IV

Open Air

Advocate IV is formed from intercepting cubes positioned to create a precariously balanced tower. Beasley compares the individual blocks of the sculpture to individual notes of a musical composition – alone they carry little emotion, however once combined together, can affect the audience on a much grander scale.

Beasley’s sculptures are commonly devised from intersecting cubes, which emphasises his interest in early Modernist art. His sculptures are designed using three-dimensional design software, that allows him to devise his forms without the contraints of gravity. His shapes which are then translated into bronze.

‘Nature remains the ideal guide and the great resource; without it, there is no warmth, no heart and I insist that my work have both.’

Bruce Beasley
