Embark on an after-hours adventure at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

18 Apr 2018

Embark on an after-hours adventure at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) on Friday 18 May 2018. For one night, YSP opens its doors (and gates!) to visitors until 9pm in celebration of Museums at Night.
Spend the evening – part of Culture24’s festival of after-hours culture and heritage – exploring the delights of YSP at dusk. From 5pm, visitors can park for free, enjoy out-of-hours access to extraordinary exhibitions, join YSP for dinner and book a place on exclusive events.
Explore YSP’s 500-acre landscape, from formal gardens to rolling hills, and discover over 80 sculptures by world-class artists, against the backdrop of the setting sun. You can also experience Chiharu Shiota’s incredible white thread installation, Beyond Time, in the Chapel, and see the radical and vital work of arts and environmental charity Common Ground in the Bothy and Garden Galleries.
Alternatively, book a place on Stitched Stories (18.30 / £6) to create an In My Shoes-inspired self-portrait using appliqué and hand embroidery; discover the Park’s lakeside follies and features by candlelight in the Twilight Lake Walk (19.30, £7); or join Simply Sitting at Sunset (8.30pm / £6) to experience the changing light from day to night in James Turrell’s Deer Shelter Skyspace.
To celebrate the late-night opening, why not join us for dinner? Enjoy your evening meal in the YSP Restaurant, with 10% off all food and drink, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, whilst taking in the breath-taking views over the Country Park.
Museums at Night visitors can also enjoy a late-night shopping offer with 10% off at the award-winning YSP Shop (open until 7pm) and free parking after 5pm.

About Museums at Night

Museums at Night next explodes into life from Wednesday 16 to Saturday 19 May 2018 and the fun is repeated every Halloween. Twice a year, not-for-profit cultural publisher Culture24 invites all UK museums, galleries, libraries and heritage sites to throw open their doors after hours to showcase their treasures in unexpected ways. Museums at Night is an opportunity for museums and galleries to come together around a single, simple campaign that is attractive to venues, audiences and the media. It’s a social experience, where visitors can get involved, delve deeper into fascinating subjects and perhaps enjoy a cocktail or two with friends. The festival has grown rapidly since Culture24 took it over in 2009, with over 500 participating venues, 700 events and 100,000 visitors each year.
