3 May–20 Jun 2021

Founded on an urgency to support the arts at a critical time, theVOV is a new virtual ecosystem that presents landmark exhibitions from leading arts organisations for everyone to enjoy live and on demand. For the first time, public museums and galleries are joining forces on one centralised digital destination, demonstrating unprecedented solidarity and showing a united front to generate funds for the creative sector, whilst simultaneously making culture more accessible than ever.

Season One runs for the duration of ten weeks with 15 of the UK's leading arts institutions bringing seminal exhibitions back to life. theVOV invites everyone to explore behind-the-scenes content, take part in a dynamic programme of live events and workshops, and experience art galleries and museums like never before.

For Season One, YSP presents selected works from Yinka Shonibare MBE: FABRIC–ATION. Presented in three of YSP’s indoor galleries and the open air, FABRIC–ATION featured over thirty vibrant works from the period 2002–2013 including sculpture, film, photography, painting and collage, with many never before seen in the UK.

FABRIC–ATION was a unique opportunity for audiences to trace Shonibare’s creative development at a time when he was increasingly active in creating work for public space. Offering an invaluable insight into a challenging, political and celebratory artist, this important exhibition remains the most extensive survey of Shonibare’s work in the UK. As well as dealing with issues such as migration, climate change, food and oil production and Britain’s post-colonial legacy, it showcased the first two of the artist’s six-metre high Wind Sculptures, foregrounding a new and fertile area of development for Shonibare.

The virtual revival launches via theVOV website and will be available to view between 3 May and 20 June.
