Daniel Arsham: Bronze Eroded Astronaut

Daniel Arsham’s Bronze Eroded Astronautis based on the famous image of Neil Armstrong during the first moon landing in 1969. Armstrong's first steps onto the lunar surface were broadcast on live TV to a worldwide audience. His words ‘one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind’ are remembered now as emblematic of this achievement. The image became an icon of innovation and the ambition of humans to explore beyond our planet.

Created using traditional green patinated bronze, this modern-day image is reinvented to become an artefact that tell the stories of our time.
